Cartel Fletching Jig Set Up 6 years 4 months ago #135

Hi Guys

I have bought a Cartel Fletching Jig as I must learn how to attached the fletching correctly. I have attached 1 fletching so far, it wasn't on centrally, so I removed, adjust the magnet part and re attached. This is still not quiet right.

Also the turning part doesn't seem to rotate the full degrees for the next vane to be attached.

Could someone help me to set this up please, before I make a complete pigs ear of it?

Many thanks in advance

We have the same jig and I believe it's the same one they have in the club house.

So with the fletching mounted in the holder, you should ease it over - rather than slap it on - the magnets are stronger than you'd think.

Check the rotation with a pencil, you should be able to rotate it three times and be back to exactly where you started. There are a couple of small allen key bolts for changing between 3 and 4 fletchings - check these. I've not needed to touch these after Derek at Perris check them for me.

Finally - glue. I was never happy about getting a consistent amount of glue there, and it always seemed to be excessive. I'm glad I've left all that behind now and don't need it.

Top tip from Paul was to put a tiny spot of fletching glue on the leading and trailing edge of the fletching to give a bit of extra security to the fletching.

Bring it down and we'll compare it to the settings to the club one.
